Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen sets new Record

UPDATE: The actual totals are in and Transformers grossed a total of $60.6 million on opening day.
Michael Bay has just set a new record with Transformers:Revenge of the Fallen. The movie brought in total $55 million on its opening day!!! This makes it the top grossing Wednesday opening movie, beating out Harry Potter which held the record. Out of the $55 million, $16 million of that came from its midnight showings. Transformers was not able to beat out ‘The Dark Knight’ with it midnight showing total, ‘The Dark Knight’ had brought in around $18.5 million.
Harry Potter will have a chance to reclaim the Wednesday opening title when ‘Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince’ opens on July 15th.
In order for Transformers to beat ‘The Dark Knight’ it will have to bring in around $160 million in its 3 day opening.
Is Michael Bay Quitting Transformers?

There are some reports going around that Michael Bay is quitting the Transformers series. Well its kinda true, but its more like a break.
“After the three and a half years I’ve spent making these movies, I feel like I’ve had enough of the Transformers world,” says the Revenge of the Fallen director. “I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions.”
Now I personally think that Bay needs to stick to movies like Transformers. Lately he has been producing movies like 2009 reboot/remake of the ‘Friday the 13th’ series, which didn’t need to be remade. I’ve said before, just because we can remake a movie from the 80’s with kick-ass special effects, doesn’t mean we should.
Well there are talks about a Transformers 3, there is no script and none of the actors have offically signed on, however leads Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox have both said they would be open to a third movie.
