MTV announced to that Russell Brand with host the 26th Annual ‘MTV Video Music Awards’ on Sept 13th, 2009 @ New York’s famous Radio City Music Hall

Just Curious – Shouldn’t MTV at least play some music videos if they are planning on giving out awards for them?

This will be the second time Brand has hosted the VMA’s.  He hosted last years 2008 VMA’s from L.A., and got so/so reviews.  Most people will remember him either as the guy to openly mocked the Jonas Bro’s purity rings or as the guy to cut off Robert Pattinson only to anger thousands of Twilight fans!!!

I’m a fan of Russell Brand in general, so I’m hoping this year goes better for him.

Also, annouced was that Tayor Swift will be making her VMA debut performing her new single ‘You Belong With Me’.

More performers as well as this years nominees will be announced in the coming weeks.

If you were a child of the 80’s you will no doubt remember the cartoon ‘The Smurfs’, where little blue creatures lived in a village, used “SMURF” in every which way to can think of, the wizard Gargamel was their enemy, and the only had one female!!!

If you were a fan (like me) then happy day is a coming, the live action/animated feature ‘Smurf’ movie will hit theaters on December 17, 2010, and will be presented in both 2D and 3D.

Raja Gosnell is set to direct the movie, but no other details are currently available.

Both EW.com and MTV Movies are reporting the the SNL skit ‘MacGruber’ is headed to the big screen.

The skit features Will Forte as the MacGruber, who is a parody of MacGuyver from the 1980’s TV Show.

According to both sites Val Kilmer and Ryan Phillippe are being cast in the project, along with  Kristin Wiig who plays MacGruber’s wife/sidekick.

In the skit on SNL, MacGruber is always easily distracted from his task at hand resulting in an explosion.

Earlier this season on SNL Richard Dean Anderson who played MacGuyver in the TV Series made a guest apperance in the skit (which was pretty funny).

I’m not sure how well this skit is going to translate onto the big screen.  Most of the SNL skits turned movies are in the good idea/bad execution box.

MTV Movie Blogs and USA Today both have a first look a the new ‘Alice in Wonderland’ from director Tim Burton.

The film features Johnny Depp as the ‘Mad Hatter’, Helena Bonham Carter as the ‘Queen of Hearts’, Anne Hathaway as ‘The White Queen’, and other Burton favorites.
