Comic-Con: ‘Vampire Diaries’ Screens Pilot

The new CW show ‘The Vampire Diaries’ screen the entire pilot at Comic-Con on Saturday, and according to a few people who where there, the crowd was not impressed!!.
To give some credit to the show, it might have screen better if they didn’t pair it up the director’s cut of ‘Watchmen’. If they would have screened it say Thursday night or Friday when all the ‘Twilight’ fans were still around, they might have gotten a better viewing.
According to HitFix.com
When “The Vampire Diaries” decided to screen its entire pilot for the Comic-Con audience, knowing how well “Twilight” has done here in recent years and how well the Comic-Con audience likes vampires in general, it must have seemed like a slam dunk. Instead, the panel got caught in a perfect storm of situations pretty much designed to mean something would be received derisively by the Con’s attendees. It’s almost enough to make one feel bad for the show until one considers that, well, “The Vampire Diaries” pretty much sucks. Once one thinks about it that way, it’s easier to enjoy just how loopy the screening got.
If your not aware of ‘The Vampire Diaries’, let me fill you in. The TV series is supposed to be based of the popular book series of the same name by L.J. Smith. I read these back when they first came out (1992 – JR. High for me) and then re-read them again a few months ago. Based off what I saw from the CW Upfront last spring, it looks as if quite a few things have been changed from including the Town’s name.
Now, this isn’t to say I’m not going to like the series, I’m a fan of Kevin Williamson, who did after all bring us ‘Dawson’s Creek’.
So, hopefully ‘Vampire Diaries’ fans, the series won’t suck (no pun entended) nearly as much as comic-con atendees/critics are saying.
Comic-Com: More ‘True Blood’ Goodness!!!

During the ‘True Blood’ panel at Comic-con this past weekend, more details about the hit HBO series were revealed!!!
According to Alan Ball, the series has been picked up for a 3rd season (no surprise there) and should introduce us to the Werewolves and the Mississippi Vamps (per the 3rd book “Club Dead”).
Ball aslo noted that the love triangle that is Bill-Sookie-Eric will get more heated during the second half of season 2. A question was asked if the sereies will follow the romantic arcs of the book, Ball’s answer was “Yes”, which is taken seriously means Sookie might be headed for a different Vamp love later on!!!
Charlene Harris (author of the book series) was at the panel as well and said that she just signed a deal to write 3 more “Sookie Stackhouse” novels!! That makes me happy!!
HBO also annouced they are making an actual “Tru Blood” drink!!! The beverage will be a blood orange favored drink sold in the Tru Blood packaging featured on the show. You can pre-order the drink now over at HBO.com, the retail price is $16.00 for a 4-pack and ships on 9/8/09!!!.
