Bran Hambric & the Fairfield Curse

bran hambricOverview:

“Bran Hambric was found locked in a bank vault at six years old, with no memory of his past. For years, he has lived with one of the bankers, wondering why he was left behind — until one night, when he is fourteen, he is suddenly confronted by a maddened creature, speaking of Bran’s true past and trying to kidnap him.

Bran finds that he is at the center of a plot which started years before he was even born: the plot of a deadly curse his mother created…and one that her former masters are hunting for him to complete.
Haunted by the spirit of his mother’s master and living in a city where magic is illegal, Bran must undo the crimes of his past…before it is too late.”

I was very inspired by Kaleb Nation who started writing this book when he was 14yrs old, so therefore I was excited to read his first published novel. I first heard about Kaleb from his website TwilightGuy.com.  He gave such unique perspective to the Twilight Novels, giving us what what an adult Male thinks about the series.

I don’t want give any spoilers on this, so I’m just going to give my thoughts.

For a young first time author, I thought Kaleb did a decent job keeps the story well paced with very few “dragging” moments.  It is also surprising to me after reading Bran Hambric that Kaleb has never read the Harry Potter series (which he should) as there was almost a Harry Potter type feeling to this book.

Overall, a good read with a lot of promise for the upcoming novels.  I will be on the look out for the sequel!!

Bran Hambric is available at the following online retailers:
Amazon.com
B&N
Borders.com

I also just want to give my congratulations to Kaleb Nation for becoming a published author at the age of 21.

StephenieMeyer.com Update

StephenieMeyer_WebsiteFrom StephenieMeyer.com

“Hi. I hope everyone is having a great week.

It has come to my attention through several concerned emails that many popular websites like MySpace and Facebook are displaying ads offering a chance to win Midnight Sun. This is a hoax. I would advise against giving out any personal information or even clicking on the links.

That is my ‘tip of the day’ from your friendly neighborhood webmaster. On a more exciting note, we only have to wait 71 more days until New Moon the movie hits theaters! In case you don’t want to have to count the days on your calendar (like I just did) every time you think about Edward and Jacob, I’ve added a countdown widget to the New Moon Movie page (right side).”
