American Idol Top 5 – Results

44850373

Okay so I had two WTF moments tonight watching the results show.  So last night I thought Alison and Matt would be the bottom 2, I was 1/2 right.

As the producers usually do in the Top five, they make the “front runner” pick which group of 2 they think they belong in.  So, they made Adam chose between Group 1: Kris and Matt or Group 2: Alison and Danny.  He picked #2.

Here is WTF moment #1 – Ryan moved Adam to group #1, putting Matt, Kris and ADAM in the the bottom 3.  Soooo didn’t see that one coming.

After 2 performances, Ryan had Kris move to safety, bringing me to WTF moment #2 – ADAM is in the bottom 2!!!!  Total WTFFFFF.

After the usual long pause…Matt G was voted out.

Okay, what this means for ADAM fans…get out there and vote!!!!!

Next week is Rock n Roll week with guest Slash from Guns n Roses.

American Idol – “Rat Pack” Week – Top 5

SPOILER WARNING!!!!

americanidol5_l

I have to say, this has to be one of if not the best week on this season.  Every performance ranked from good to freakin brilliant.

Here is the list of songs, along with my take on it:

Kris – The Way You Look Tonight: This was probably the best performance of Kris’s since “Falling Slowly”.  I love this song so I was a little worried, but the arrangement was pretty darn great.

Adam – Feeling Good: Once again I am pretty much speechless.  This was a performance worthy of the “Rat Pack”.  I totally the best entrance ever!!!  UPDATE: If you wondering why Adam’s version of “Feeling Good” might sound familiar, that’s because it sounds like he took Muse’s version and twisted a little.  Muse did a cover of “Feeling Good” on their 2001 album Origin of Symmetry.  You check out on iTunes to get a feel for it.

Allison – Someone to Watch Over Me:  Well, I’ll say this, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. But I’m still not a huge Allison fan, I think once again she will be in the bottom 2.

Danny – Come Rain or Come Shine: It was nice to see Danny breaking away from the karaoke performances.  I’m pretty sure he’ll be safe to the top 3.

Matt – My Funny Valentine: As much as I enjoyed his performance ( and I really did), I still think he is going to fall in the bottom 2, but I am hoping Allison goes home first.

Alright everyone, there you have it, what I thought of this week’s performances.  As always I’ll post the results tomorrow night after it airs here on the East Coast!!!

American Idol Top 5 to sing “Rat Pack”

american_idol_tv_show

Next’s weeks Idol will feature songs by the “Rat Pack”, this makes me happy.  As I sure all will do awesome with the exception of Allison.

In case you don’t know who the “Rat Pack” is well here were the members:

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop

Please don’t confuse the “Rat Pack” with the Brat Pack, Frat Pack, or the recently dubbed Brit Pack.

I personally cannot wait to hear what Adam has in store for us!!!

American Idol – Disco Week Results

Spoiler Warning for non East coast folks!!!

ai

3 weeks in row I have called the bottom three Lil, Anoop, and Alison.

This week is a double elimination, and they wasted no time getting around to one of those eliminated.  Lil rounds was the first to go on tonight’s show, and even though she has a great voice, she just couldn’t cut it on Idol

Second up was Anoop Desai who I also think has run his limit on the show.

That means our Top 5 are:

Adam

Kris

Danny

Matt

Allison

American Idol Top 7 – Disco Week

Spoiler Warning for non-east coast readers!!!!

season8-top7

So this week, the Idol finalists can either fall on the asses or do awesome.  After watching the show, it was almost an even spilt of who was great and who not so much.

The performances I liked:

Adam: If I Can’t Have You – From “Saturday Night Fever”.  I’m pretty familiar with this song, and after hearing it slowed down that way, all I can say is once again Adam brought it tonight.  How this boy never got a record contract before now shocks me.

Kris: Workin Hard for the Money – I’m liking him more and more each week (I’m still listening to last weeks “Falling Slowly”).  This was such a great arrangement, it totally worked for me.

Matt – Stayn Alive – This is a “love it” or “Hate it” song choice.  I’m leaning more towards the love it side, not 100% there, but close enough.  The vocals were pretty damn good, and I thank the Lord he didn’t try to sing it as high as The Bee Gees did.  It was much better then last week.

Performances that fell flat for me:

Allison: Hot Stuff – Um, this is in upbeat dance song that she turned into a gravely mess.  I kinda guessed last week that her song choice was going to be on the awful side.

Lil: I’m Every Women – Now if she would have just kept with the original tempo and arrangement, this might have been okayish, but she didn’t and it was pretty bad.

Anoop: Dim All The Lights – It was good up until he kicked the tempo up, then it just started to tank.  Simon called it his worst performance so far, I don’t agree with that, how can anyone forget “Beat It”.

You might notice I’m missing a contestant, that is because there is one that is literally a 50/50 for me:

Danny: September – The vocals and arrangement for me were on the good side, but the energy in the performance is what is on the down side for me.  It wasn’t his strongest, but not his worst.

Its getting a little tough to pick my bottom 3, but here is who I think is in trouble

Lil, Anoop, and Allison.

I’m guessing that most likely we might see Lil and Anoop as the bottom 2.

I’ll be sure to post the results tomorrow night.
