The finial 2 performed tonight on Idol; Adam vs. Kris.   They each sang 3 songs: personal pick from the last 11 weeks, Simon Fuller’s pick, and then the Idol single “No Boundaries”.

Personal Pick:

Adam – Mad World: Singing his awesome version of the Tears for Fears song, and it was just as awesome as the first time.  I have to say, I had a great LOL moment when Simon and Randy were “arguing” if it was more Phantom of the Opera or more “Twilight”.  That is the second or third time Adam has been compared to something/someone from Twilight!!!

Kris – Ain’t No Sunshine: I would have rather heard Kris sing “Heartless” or “Falling Slowly”.  I just like those 2 songs better then the pick from Motown week.  It just didn’t have the wow factor needed for this week

Simon Fuller’s Pick

Adam – Change is Gonna Come: Adam doing Sam Cooke was just fabulous, the way he hit those notes and the emotion in his voice.  Nice pick Simon F

Kris – What’s Going On:  Was a good pick, and he performed it well enough, but it still didn’t have that “Damn” factor for me.

 

Idol Single “No Boundaries”

First off, I did not like the song in general.  The key was too high for Kris, but it did fit his vocal styling better.  The key was just fine for Adam, but it felt off watching him sing that song.

If I had to choose, I’m going for Adam as Kris was pitchy throughout the performance.

 

Alright folks, thats it.  Vote for who you want to win (ADAM).  Tune in for tomorrow night’s 2hr results show.  Ryan did mention that the show is going to run long so set those DVR’s correctly!!!

 

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD!!!!

Well I got my wish…take a look at the picture, thats the Idol Top 2 for season 8.  The front runner Adam Lambert and the come from behind Kris Allen!!!

After watching the return home videos, a pretty awful Jordan Sparks performance, and an Awesome Katy Perry performance (loved the “Adam Lambert” on her cape),  Danny was told he just missed the boat.

I think one of the best moments came from right before Katy’s performance Danny was asking for it to just be over, just give them the results, when Adam says “I want to see Katy Perry”!!!

Alright, so it will all come down to what happens next week!!!

 

WARNING SPOILERS!!!!

Then there were 3.  The top 3 boys performed tonight, and as is tradition each one will perform a Judge’s Choice and Personal Choice song. 

Here we go:

Danny:

Judge’s Choice: Paula’s pick for Danny’s was “Dance Little Sister”.  Okay, we know Danny is a great vocalist, but I wasn’t a fan of this song choice.  Luckily Danny didn’t have a say in it.  Also, what is Paula on these days???

Personal Choice: You Are So Beautiful – Much better song choice, he did so much better with this song then with the first round.  I fell Danny does much better with the slower, more soulful numbers.

 

Kris:

Judge’s Choice: Randy and Kara chose “Apologize” for Kris.  He pretty much stuck to the original only taking a few liberties with the song.  I liked that he stuck close to the original song, it’s got great melodies. 

Personal Choice: Kanye West’s “Heartless” – If Kris waited until the perfect moment to prove he wanted to be in the Top 2, it was this.  This performance is what made me pick Kris over Danny.  He did the entire song unplugged, and totally made it awesome.

Randy even said this “…that was better then Kanye’s version”, hmmm wonder what Kanye will have to say about this, any takers????

 

Adam:

Judge’s Choice: Simon got to pick the song for Adam U2’s “One”.  Simon also took the time to flout how he had to call Bono to get the rights to sing the song.  The actual performance was of as usual Awesome.  Adam played with the melody, harmony, arrangement and man was it good.  

Personal Choice: Aerosmith’s “Cryin” – If there was ever an artist Adam was meant to sing it was Aerosmith.  I can’t think on many other artists that can hit the notes that Steven Tyler can.  He didn’t play too much with the original arrangement, which was good, that “Cryin” is a damn good song!!!

 

The moment of truth will come tomorrow night, but if I get my way it will be Adam and Kris (with hopefully Adam winning)!!!

After belting out Janas Joplin and Foghat, this week we said goodbye to Allison.  I am not sad about this at all, most people who read by weekly AI posts know I’m not a huge Allison fan.

This leaves Adam, Kris and Danny making up our Top 3

I would like to see Adam and Kris make up the final 2.

 

Well, we are down to the Top 4 and only 3 weeks left till the finale.  This week was Rock week with guest Slash.  If there is one person who I never thought we set foot on the AI stage, it would be Slash.

Anyhoo, on to the performances

Adam: A Whole Lot of Love – How Adam ended up in the bottom 2 last week is just plain confusing.  He was the only person who was able to rock out during Rock Week.  His stage presence is just amazing. What Simon said was true, no other performance will top his.

Allison: Cry Baby – The phrase broken record came to mind and Randy seemed to agree.  Well it wasn’t horrible it wasn’t great.

Kris: Come Together – Rock is so not Kris’s thing, but the did the best he could, and he was pretty jamming on the guitar.  He also had some balls to perform a Beattle’s Song.

Danny: Dream On – Okay, this is the first time I have ever said this, but my word did this performance suck ass!!!!  It was pitchy, flat, and screaming. 

 

Duets: This is a first time I’ve seen this on AI

Kris & Danny: Renegade  - The harmonies at the beginning of the song were pretty awesome, but it was kinda downhill from the that.  With as horrible as Danny’s solo performance, his duet performance was way better. 

Adam & Allison: Slow Ride – Well Adam was totally showing up Allison, but he did make her sound way better.

Okay so my pick for the bottom 2 would be Kris and Danny.
